feeling, musicalidade, pegada, swing, sem falar no timbre…
That’s one hell of a touch responsive amp…
I agree with Jfknet his sound is truly distinct and original.
Such a pure artist…
There are few people you can hear an intro and just instantly know who it is. Eric is one of those guys. Beautiful tone, and truly a master of his craft. He looks so young in this video. I truly loved this generation of Texas Bluesman with SRV etc. It’s hard to believe he’s almost 60.
Weenie …The video is prob about 15 years old. besides it’s not a true mullet anyway. Today’s styles are all over the place. it’s the playing stupid.
Brother Eric is one of a kind!
thats b/c its just the intro. They always have the players just sort of do their thing in the opening. Then they teach,. The Joe Pass one & the Danny Gatton one are the same thing
that distortion sounds like butter to my ears!awesome!koto technique rules!
not really a lesson is it
sorry for my language =)
@marklouisjordan ??? tone
wow, butter smooth technique. nice
Impresionante
that echo on the guitar coupled with the sounds he is making is almost hypnotic..
i respect all yjm eric, howe, hackett, martone, etc
Amen man. Eric Johnson has one thing Yngwie lacks, tone… Yeah Yngwie can shred… I know 13 yr old kids who can. When you have tone over technique… That’s a skill…
yngwie malmsteen doesnt have shit on this guy at least when you listen to eric he has something that actually sounds good and not too damn fast and sounds like shit like yngwie malmsteen
No way can you teach this to anyone….
Just listening to EJ, is great enough, but when you actually watch him close up, it’s like otherworldly.
Talk about re-inventing the electric guitar….damn.
Eric’s playin is beyond heart its spiritual. Like a revelation. A new gospel. Amen
I just got served.
We all got served.
Good evaluation. Last time I checked, Tom Hess has amazing technique, but I’ve never bought his cd. I have of Eric Johnson. Making good music is about the love of music.
he doesn’t play guitar by hands, he plays by heart
He’s like a ninja..
I just wanna say one thing that’s on my mind here.
Eric Johnson’s technique makes it so much more evident that you don’t need to listen to Tom Hess, Jamie Andreas or any of the other guitar teachers out there that are the posterboys for fretting hand economy of motion. His hands fly on the fretboard like crazy, and given the amount of speed he can conjure up, all that really matters is picking technique.
To sum it up, I think what’s in EJ’s hands isn’t precision or calculation. It’s love.
